Caribbean Stud is a poker based game, usually played at smaller tables. What sets it apart from the usual poker games is the feature of placing a side bet to win a progressive jackpot aside from your main bet (called ante bet). The main objective of the game is to beat the dealer’s hand, so there’s no need to worry about beating other players. There is no bluffing or deception involved whatsoever.
This poker themed game starts by placing the minimum ante bet and an option to place a set bet for a bonus jackpot. Once the cards have been dealt (5 cards per hand all face down; one card in the dealer's hand is dealt face up ), players decide to fold and forfeit their ante bets or make a call by making an additional bet, twice the amount of the ante. After these additional bets are placed, the rest of the dealer's cards are opened. The dealer must then possess an Ace and a King or a better combination in order to qualify for the round. If he does not have these, the players win their original ante bets. If the dealer qualifies, then the dealer's and your hands are compared. If your hand has the better combination, you win an amount according to the combination in your hand.
Different combinations have different payout rates. Taking it slow is the key to this game; patience could be rewarding. Just place a small amount on the ante bets then work your way up, but take your eyes off of the side bets. Once you get the hang of it, the game is actually pretty easy to play. A lot of strategies could be employed and most of them are just discovered along the way. Caribbean Stud is a slow-paced game that is better enjoyed when played with friends.
